Guidelines for Authors

Guidelines to contributors

Please, submit two files for our reading committee (a pdf and a .doc file).

Your manuscript should include the following elements:

  • a title and sub-title

  • the full name of the author, his/her academic affiliation and email address

  • the article, please adopt our common font (Times New Roman, 12)

  • the list of works cited comes at the very end, footnotes do not hold bibliographical data

  • an abstract in French and in English, recommended length: more than 150 words

  • 10 indexable key words in French and in English

  • a short bio in French and in English

Do not use personal style sheets.

Color illustrations and visual documents are accepted and should be inserted in the text proper by the author who will include the adequate caption.

Visuals need to be accompanied with their proper authorizations (abiding by existing copyright laws).

Manuscripts will conform to the current MLA Handbook guidelines.

Manuscripts should be submitted to the Directors of publication and Editorial Board.

All articles are double-blind peer-reviewed within a month.

Authors’ Permission for the online Sillages critiques Journal to publish an article

Article submission agreement

General Information: Sillages critiques is published by Revues.org, a journal platform for the humanities and social sciences, as part of OpenEdition run by the Centre for Open Electronic Publishing (Cléo), a public and non-profit initiative supported by research organizations. Its aim is to promote open access digital publishing.

Sillages critiques is now part of the OpenEdition Freemium distribution program: libraries and institutions subscribing to OpenEdition Freemium for Journals have free and unrestricted access to the HTML format of articles. Additional services are also provided to subscribing institutions (for further information: access@openedition.org)

Copyrights: all authors are now asked to authorize publication/distribution by Sillages critiques. They should be informed of their rights and duties:

a- the duty to submit an original, non-plagiarized article (signature 3)

b- the right to know the Journal rules for authorship (signatures 1- 2)

The contents of Sillages critiques website are the exclusive property of Sillages critiques. Articles can be accessed and reproduced on paper or digital media, provided that they are strictly used for personal, scientific or educational purposes excluding any commercial exploitation.

Reproduction must necessarily mention the journal name, the author and the document reference. Any other reproduction is strictly forbidden without permission of the author and of Sillages critiques Directors of publication.

All author(s) are asked to sign

  1. an author (s) approval;

  2. an author (s) agreement of submission, acceptance of responsibility for article content;

  3. an author (s) pledge not to plagiarize.

The submission of the article must be exclusive. It should not be published or submitted for publication to any other source. It must be the author (s) original work and must not contain any plagiarism or any libelous or unlawful statements or infringe on the rights or privacy of others.

By signing, all authors agree that the terms are true.

Author(s) agreement of submission and acceptance of responsibility

The terms of Sillages critiques license are “CC BY-NC-ND”. It means Sillages critiques is an academic, not-for-profit publication which maintains universal, unrestricted and free access to the research carried out in VALE research center. It does not allow the commercial use of articles published.

The CC-BY-NC-ND acronyms refer to the following legal notions:

  • Creative Commons (CC) license: “the baseline right to distribute the copyrighted work worldwide for non-commercial purposes, and without modification”;

  • Attribution (BY): “Licensees may copy, distribute, display and perform the work and make derivative works and remixes based on it only for non-commercial purposes and only if they give the author or licensor the credits (attribution) in the manner specified by these”;

  • Non-commercial (NC): “Licensees may copy, distribute, display, and perform the work and make derivative works and remixes based on it only for non-commercial purposes”;

  • -No Derivative Works (ND): “Licensees may copy, distribute, display and perform only verbatim copies of the work, not derivative works and remixes based on it”. (for further information: access@openedition.org)

By signing, all authors hereby grant a CC-BY-NC-ND copyright license of their articles to Sillages critiques.

- the first Sillages critiques publication site and references be clearly mentioned;

- Sillages critiques Directors of publication and Editorial Board be informed in writing.

  • authors warrant that they are the sole authors of their articles and that the articles they submit to Sillages critiques are original, have not been formally published in any other peer-reviewed journal or in a book or edited collection, and are not under consideration for any such publication.

  • Authors further warrant their articles do not libel anyone, invade anyone’s copyrights or otherwise violate any statutory or common law right of anyone.

  • In case of plagiarism, authors will be held solely responsible as they are expected to have made all reasonable efforts to ensure the original, i.e. non-plagiarized quality of their articles.

  • Sillages critiques Directors of publication and Editorial Board are allowed by the author to make whatever slight or very minor changes to articles submitted to ensure clarity, accuracy and reliability. Any other change will be brought to the attention of the author in the reviewing process.

Pledge not to plagiarize

The Author hereby declares that his/her article is entirely original and does not contain any borrowings from another work, regardless of nature (text or image), likely to engage the liability of Sillages critiques.

The Author also declares that the article does not contain anything likely to be forbidden by laws related to defamation, slander, counterfeit, or plagiarism.

The Author specifically declares that the illustrations that are part of the article have copyright permission.
